Magnetism, one of our most
amazing natural wonders. Magnetic Sweepers has been building upon this
phenomenon for over 20 years and as a result, has emerged as a
leader in the creation and production of industrial magnetic
products.
"Fortunately, word of the
Type ALT's effectiveness spread rapidly throughout the
airline and trucking industries and the product sold
itself."

An innovator in permanent magnetics, Magnetic Sweepers's origins
date back to 1975 when the company developed the industry's first
magnetic sweeper "bar" for use at trucking docks and airport
terminals. Called the "Type ALT" Magnetic Sweeper, and
purchased by Consolidated Freightways and Piedmont Airlines (now
merged into USAirways), the Type ALT filled a need for a safe,
effective method of removing damaged ferrous metal trash from the
workplace.
"The biggest challenge during our early years was to create brand
awareness," says Charlie Shields, company President. "Fortunately,
word of the Type ALT's effectiveness spread rapidly throughout the
airline and trucking industries and the product sold itself." Since
that time, Magnetic Sweepers's Type ALT has become the U.S.'s
largest selling magnetic sweeper and has become the benchmark
against which all other competing brands are judged.
Over the years the market for magnets has greatly expanded to
include industries such as material handling/distribution,
construction, aggregate/mining and agriculture/food processing.
Magnetic Sweepers has created and brought to market products to meet
this demand such as conveyor magnets, overhead separators and
magnetic head pulleys. "There are an unlimited number of areas where
magnets are beneficial. Many people are looking for the solution but
simply don't know where to find it," said Magnetic Sweepers Marketing
Vice President, Mike Perry. "We are aware these are select niches,
so it's not only our job to create the product, but also to expose
the product to the proper marketplace."
Magnetic Sweepers is unique to the rest of the industry because of
its innovation and outstanding customer service. "Magnets are
intriguing to people and they want to learn about them. We don't
just sell the customer a magnet, we provide guidance and support to
be sure the customer is getting what they really need," says
Shields.
The magnet marketplace is rapidly expanding worldwide. With
distribution points located in both Ventura, California and
Sarasota, Florida, Magnetic Sweepers is positioned to meet the growing
demands of this marketplace.
